The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is open to all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools.
Students in Years 3-6 must read 20 books from your stage level or above by Friday 3 September 2021 to complete the PRC. This year the rules have been modified due to the NSW lockdown restrictions. Students on all Challenge levels are able to read 10 choice books - an increase from five. You can also include books on your reading records that your read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with your parents/carers. To add the books you have read for the PRC to your personal reading record, go to the PRC Student website. Click the link below to find out how to add the books you have read for the PRC to your personal reading record. PRC Students website guide . To start adding the books, make sure you click the "log in" button in the top right hand corner, then add your school username and password (HINT: the one you use to login to the school computers). Students in Kindergarten - Year 2 complete the PRC with their class teacher. There is no need for them to add their books to the reading record, because the teachers will do it on their behalf. All students who successfully complete the Premier's Reading Challenge will receive a certificate signed by the Premier of NSW at the end of the year. Will you complete the Challenge?
